Adam Vaughan VS Rob Ford

Did Councillor Adam Vaughan insinuate that Mayor Ford has a drinking problem when he spoke with the Toronto Sun's Don Peat? We spoke with Adam and things got pretty heated. Have a listen on the right!

Can someone please explain how Adam Sandler is the second highest paid actor in Hollywood?!

He's telling the truth. Tell me, does this look like the mayor of a major North American city to you?

@John Thompson and what does a mayor of a major North American city look like? dont be ridiculous. Ford loves his city, and is a straight shooter - he does his job, believe me. he isnt 100% accountable for every minute of his day to Vaughan. its ridiculous.
Ford kissing girls or whatever else - ridiculous to even bring that up. Vaughan is pulling at strings here.

If something isn't done to get rid of this fool, Toronto is in big trouble. Is there no way to stage a recall election to get rid of him? Or impeachment?

I still would like to see councillors running this city cut in half so we can get rid of these self-serving idiots who think about nothing but themselves. Adam Vaughan should be one of the first to go. Rob Ford is doing a wonderful job and that is what pisses off Adam Vaughan and all of his cronies. Grow up and get down to the job of running the city. My God it's like a bunch of kids in a playground.

It's pretty clear that Jim is the one who is fixated on questions about the mayor's relationship with alcohol here. Councillor Vaughan made passing reference to a couple of incidents, as part of a list of mayoral happenings that have nothing to do with running a city, but are all we ever hear about Rob Ford.

It's also surprising that Jim claims he's up on local news but hasn't ever heard anything about the mayor's LCBO runs. The Grid has a feature in which Ford's schedule is recreated from various sitings and news reports -- this is only necessary, of course, because the mayor refuses to release his working schedule. As it happens, the LCBO features fairly prominently:

Is it unreasonable for someone to visit the LCBO four times in five months? Not at all, and Vaughan never claimed it was. Vaughan's point, which he repeated again and again, was simply that, with the exception of the bag fee disaster, there has been no news of the mayor doing anything remotely related to running this city in months.

The point is that Rob Ford is a part-time mayor, at best.

@Dave He's a shadow mayor. Council runs the city and has been for a while

In fairness, the video of Ford in the entertainment district and/or his runs to the LCBO, has/had thus far not received as much press as his botched diet or his other numerous gaffes.

However, is doesn't help Ford's case when his office launches salvoes on Twitter desperately trying to exemplify the Mayor being "hard at work" after Vaughan's interview. It clearly hit a nerve.

As for Richards, he simply comes off as ill-informed, partisan, divisive and defensive of Ford. On top of that, the sensationalist copy using "VS" and "insinuate that Mayor Ford has a drinking problem" is utter crap and a manipulation.

Vaughan is exasperated as is most of the public with Ford being anywhere but City Hall. If he was at Woodbine during the afternoon, it doesn't mean he has a gambling problem either. His lack of presence is the issue.

The Mayor is clearly either overwhelmed by the day-to-day or has simply given up. If that is the case, he should do the city a great favour and resign, thereby allowing people to run who truly want the job badly enough to make it a full-time effort.
