WATCH: Province targets paid plasma clinics in legislation
The Liberal government also wants tighter controls over hospital pharmacies

The Province continues to target paid plasma clinics in Toronto with the potential of one opening in Hamilton.

Dr. Eric Hoskins doesn't want money to change hands when blood is donated. The Health Minister says Queen's Park wants to make sure the province's blood supply is safe.

Hoskins says people would only be paid for donations in a national emergency.

This new legislation would also tighten the reigns on hospital pharmacies after over 1,200 cancer patients received diluted chemotherapy drugs last year.

In reaction to the chemotherapy drug scandal, the Ontario College of Pharmacists would have the power to inspect and license hospital pharmacies.

Marshall Moleschi of the College says standards will be met under their watch and the governing body values the opportunity.
