A 12-year-old boy has been airlifted to hospital after a serious crash on the QEW in Mississauga.
Two other children and four adults have been taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries after a multi-vehicle crash in the Fort Erie-bound lanes near Hurontario St.
Police say a loaded tandem tractor trailer collided with several other vehicles just before 11 a.m. OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt says that traffic was slowing at the time, when two vehicles collided. That caused a chain reaction, with other vehicles, including the truck, not being able to slow down in time.
The three children had to be extricated from one of the vehicles before being taken to hospital.
The Fort-Erie bound lanes of the QEW re-opened at 4 p.m.
