Toronto police say 16 males have been arrested in connection with 37 robberies across the GTA.
Police from Toronto, York, Peel, Guelph, Halton, Hamilton, Durham and Barrie were all involved in the investigation.
Police say there were 37 robberies involving retail stores and banks between May and November of 2016. Around a dozen more are still under investigation.
They allege the group was made up of members of two gangs: The Complex Crip Gangsters and the Treyy Money Gang.
Police say gang members used stolen vehicles during the robberies.
Detectives seized guns, money, lottery tickets, and cigarettes, along with other stolen goods. Toronto Police Staff Inspector Mike Earl says that no one was shot during any of the robberies but he describes the accused as "violent" and not afraid to get physical to get what they want.
