An 18-month-old boy is fighting for his life after his family's broken down car was rear-ended on Hwy 404.
It happened in the highway's northbound lanes just north of Aurora Rd a little after midnight.
OPP constable Lauren Ball says there were four people in the car including two young children in the backseat when it was hit by another. Ball says there is conflicting information about whether the broken down vehicle was stopped in a live lane or pulled over on the shoulder.
An 18-month old boy was rushed to a trauma centre with life-threatening injuries. A four-year-old boy also suffered injuries including a broken leg but will survive. Ball says it appears that both boys were properly restrained.
Two adults in the front of the car that was rear-ended were not hurt and neither was the driver of the car that hit them.
Ball could not say if charges will be laid in connection with the crash.
