For the second straight night and for the third time in just over 24 hours, gun play took over Toronto streets.
This time around in the area of Cosburn and Pape Avenues in East York.
Two people, both male teens, suffered gun shot wounds, one to the chest, the other to the abdomen.
The shooting occurred in the back of a residential building at 145 Cosburn Avenue at around 9 p.m.
Toronto Const. Dave Hopkinson told NEWSTALK 1010 Thursday night that officers happened to be in the area at the time of the shooting and were on scene within a minute of the gun shot call.
A resident of the building told our media partner CP24, he heard 3 shots, before police and ambulance arrived on scene. An incident that left him shaken.
" Unsettling, you can see I'm still, my heart's kind of, yeah. My mom upstairs is a senior, who I love to death and it's scary to have these things going on and stuff."
Insp. Darren Alldrit updated the shooting, confirming the two victims had suffered serious injuries, but had been stabilized in hospital and added police are looking for one suspect in the shooting.
"Male, probably late teens or early 20's, described as male white."
Alldrit could not confirm if the shooting was targeted.
The shooting was the 238rd in the city so far in 2019, a record for Toronto.
The shooting also came just hours after Chief Mark Saunders confirmed his department was extending the Project Community Space initiative, that has led to 391 arrests and 908 charges laid for firearm-related offences in its 11-week run.
