York Regional Police say 20 people were charged with impaired driving over the weekend.
Between Friday, December 2nd and Sunday, December 4th, 17 men and three ewomen were charged with several different offences. All of them, however, were related to alcohol.
Three of the charges resultred collisions on York Region roads, while 13 came from RIDE spot checks and a further four charges came as a result of calls to police by concerned citizens.
One of the drivers charged had her license already under suspension for a previous conviction, of drunk driving.
Police say despite the repeated warnings by police, drivers are not getting the message. Impaired driving is the number one criminal cause of death in Canada.
