A Hamilton hospital says 25 women may have received faulty treatment for cervical cancer due to a problem with a piece of equipment.
Hamilton Health Sciences, home of the Juravinski Cancer Centre, says the problem impacts patients who received brachytherapy treatment in 2017 and 2018.
They say the machine used to administer the treatment contained a guide tube that was the wrong length.
They say the result was that radiation may have been delivered to an area other than the one targeted for treatment.
Hospital officials say they've apologized to all impacted patients in person and put care plans in place to monitor them in the coming months.
They say they've paused brachytherapy treatments at the centre, replaced the equipment, and asked external experts to conduct a review of the hospital's radiation therapy program.
