BRAMPTON, Ont. - Police say three people were seriously injured in a stabbing in downtown Brampton on Saturday morning.
Peel regional police say a 34-year-old woman is in custody in connection to the incident.
It happened inside an apartment above a storefront near Queen and Main streets, just before 11 o'clock this morning, not far from a busy farmer's market.
Peel Police Constable Akhil Mooken, speaking to our sister station CP24, is asking witnesses to come forward.
"There are several businesses that are along the main street here and we received great cooperation, not only from the businesses, but also some of the patrons of the farmer's market, so our investigators have spoken to a few of them, but we do know - just simply based on the numbers that were present here that there are more people that have not yet had the opportunity to speak with our officers and we do encourage them to come forward and provide any and all information that they have."
Police say a female victim was taken to a trauma centre in life-threatening condition. Her condition has since been upgraded to serious, but non-life-threatening.
Two men were also seriously injured in the incident.
Police say they believe all four people involved knew each other, but they didn't offer any further information.
There's no word on charges at this time.
