Investigators from the Major Collision Bureau of Peel Regional Police have charged four people in a fatal hit and run last Thursday.
The accident in the area of Mavis Road and Knotty Pine Grove in Mississauga claimed the life of 61 year old Layla Wilke, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers believe the driver of the vehicle involved “likely panicked” after striking the pedestrian who was crossing without the right of way.
According to investigators, the vehicle involved in the crash was located in Brampton.
This past Saturday 60 year old Satchithanantha Vaithilingam of Brampton, the driver believed to be responsible for the accident, surrendered to police at 22 Division. He's been charged with Fail to Remain Causing Death.
Also charged were 25 year old Hivissa Satchithananthan of Brampton, 28 year old Shajeetha Satchithananthan from Brampton and 28 year old Gowtham Satkunarajah from Brampton. All three are facing Accessory After the Fact charges.
Vaithilingam will appear in court on March 12th. Hivissa Satchithananthan, Shajeetha Satchithananthan and Gowtham Satkunarajah will appear in court on March 26th. All will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
