Four people were hurt when an SUV and a freight train collided in Asphodel-Norwood Township, 30-kilometres east of Peterborough, Tuesday evening.
The SUV was travelling north on Third Line, north of Highway7 just before 6 p.m. when it did not stop at a railway crossing.
OPP say it was T-boned by an eastbound freight train, then landed in a ditch.
Peterborough County OPP Const. Jason Folz tells CP24 all four occupants suffered varying injuries.
The driver was airlifted to St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. The three other passengers were taken to a Peterborough area hospital with minor injuries.
Folz says the tain was travelling "very slow" at the time of the crash which is why the injuries are not as serious as originally expected.
No word on if charges will be laid.
In a news release Folz wrote: Police wish to remind motorists to come to a complete stop at uncontrolled railway crossings and to only proceed when the crossing is clear.
