A 23 year-old motorcyclist is dead following an accident in Milton.
"We received a phone call at approximately 8:22 this morning, from a male who was on Lower Base Line looking for his friend, who had been riding a motorcycle earlier that morning," Staff Sergeant Stephanie Jamieson tells Newstalk1010.
Sergeant Jamieson says that it was the victim's friend who found him and called police for help.
"The male had located his friend and was concerned for the injuries his friend had sustained and so police, fire and ambulance attended the scene and unfortunately the male was pronounced dead when they arrived."
It happened on Lower Base Line Road, just east of Fifth Line. The intersection remains closed as the investigation continues.
"Our collision reconstruction team is still there, along with our forensic identification officers."
There are reports that the victim may have lost control of the bike. It's unclear if any other vehicles were involved, prior to the accident.
At the end of our call, Sergeant Jamieson shared a general reminder for anyone driving through the area.
"Lower Base Line has alot of twists and turns along there and so we definitely do not encourage any type of excessive speed and to obey the speed limits in that area."
