It was a little more and three years ago that Captain John's beloved Jadran was towed from its berth at the foot of Yonge St., where the former Mediterranean cruise ship had welcomed visitors and Torontonians for almost 40 years.
The ship was moved to a marine recycling yard in Port Colborne, Ontario.
However, the ship's massive 3 m. (10 foot) high, 2495 kg. (5,500 lb.) anchor was saved.
This coming Wednesday at 11am, Captain John Letnik will host a short ceremony at the foot of Yonge St., at which time he will present a permanent new monument that features Jadran's anchor and ship's bell to the citizens of Toronto.
