The place is a Toronto institution. And Sully's Gym is in real jeopardy of closing down.
The boxing gym has been open since 1943, and has seen legendary names pass through to train over the last 75 years.
Names like Muhammad Ali, Lennox Lewis, Razor Ruddick and George Chuvalo all trained at Sully's at one time or another.
But, thanks to gentrification, the landlord has decided not to renew the lease for the gym. And that's left them in a lurch.
"We'd like to stay in this area, but it's really hard to find a place that is a, available and b, affordable." says Danielle Montega, who is part of the management at the gym.
While, yes it's about boxing, it's also about kids.
Many youth in the commmunity are using the gym as a safe space, taking advantage of after school programs. Sometimes they're just coming to hang out.
"Kids come off the street and stay in here. Just keeping away from trouble." says Montega.
A gofundme page has been launched, with the goal of raising $30,000.
Montega says donations are coming in from everywhere.
"We're seeing donations of $5, of $10, and I know who those people are." she says as her voice breaks up. "They're the people who want to keep the gym, right?"
