Advance polls are now open for two federal by-elections set to take place in the ridings of Toronto Centre and York Centre.
It's the first time since the start of the pandemic that voters are heading to the polls.
Elections Canada tells our media partner CP24 that due to enhanced safety measures, during the pandemic, there are some changes to the normal procedures for those who choose to vote in person.
"Poll workers will be wearing masks, face shields, gloves in some cases. We'll be having masks available for voters, if they didn't bring one; hand sanitizing stations also available. Physical distancing will be in place as well at the polls, so making sure people are two metres apart. What this means, as well, is that it might take a little bit longer than people are accustomed to," says Natasha Gauthier with Elections Canada.
Anyone who is not feeling well should not visit a polling station.
Advance voting days in Toronto Centre and York Centre are October 16th through to October 19th.
