Some anxious moments for passengers and crew of an Air Canada Rouge flight bound for San Jose Costa Rica from
Pearson airport earlier this evening. The flight encountered severe turbulence injuring three crew members
and forced to return to Toronto.
Const. Harinder Sohi of Peel Regional Police told Newstalk 1010 that they were notified of the incoming plane just before 7 p.m.
"At 6:53 p.m we were advised that there was a flight coming back to Pearson. Three flight attendants did receive minor injuries."
Initially it was reported that three flight attendants suffered minor injuries in the incident and were all transported to hospital to be assessed. But laterĀ Peel Paramedics updated the injuries confirming only two of the crew were taken to hospital.
In a statement, Air Canada confirmed to Newstalk 1010 that the flight "returnedĀ to Toronto after encountering turbulence. As a precautionary measure airport emergency services met the aircraft upon arrival. Passengers will be redeparting shortly on an other aircraft. "
