A man from Ajax is facing charges after allegedly getting involved in a plot to murder a couple living in Jamaica.
Durham Police say they arrested the 56-year-old man on Tuesday morning, following an investigation that involved the FBI in the US and The Major Organized Crime and Anti-Corruption Unit, based in Jamaica.
Officers say they were tipped off by the RCMP, about the alleged plan to kill the two Jamaican residents.
During the course of the months-long investigation, they'd learned that a Canadian citizen had travelled to Jamaica in mid-May to help plan the murder.
Something happened, and the murder was never carried out, and the couple wasn't hurt.
The suspect was picked up on the 401 near Brock Road in Pickering and has been held for a bail hearing.
He's been charged with conspiracy to murder and counselling offence that is no committed.
