Amazon is expanding its footprint in Canada.
The company announced plans for a new fulfillment centre, to be built in Scarborough.
The 1-million square foot facility is expected to bring 600 full-time jobs to the region.
It will be the 12th facility in Canada, and the seventh in Ontario.
What is a fulfillment centre?
It's where workers "pick, pack and ship" smaller products like electronics, toys and baby products. There's no word yet on when this one will open.
“Business is booming in Ontario and today’s announcement by Amazon is further proof that our plan is working to make Ontario open for business and open for jobs,” said Ontario Premier Doug Ford in a release. “We welcome Amazon’s continued investment in our province, and we will continue to make Ontario the best place for businesses to invest, grow, and create jobs for people.”
