The smell of ammonia is permeating an Etobicoke neighbourhood as fire crews work to stop the spill.
The spill happened in an industrial building on Evans Avenue near Kipling Avenue Saturday morning. A refrigeration unit is to blame.
Toronto Fire Captain David Eckerman says the TTC Queensway division across from the building on Evans Avenue has been evacuated as well as some residences in the area.
A man in his 50s is being treated by paramedics for difficulty breathing, no other injuries have been reported.
Captain Eckerman says company representatives are heading to the scene to shut off the ammonia leak.
Evans Avenue is closed from Kipling Avenue to Bellman Avenue
