With fears of dealing with a fentanyl laced heroin, Toronto Police are trying to warn the public about the tainted street drugs. But the warnings haven't stopped the usage.
Friday the tainted street drug claimed a 3rd life in the past 2 days. Investigators say the most recent case happened when a man was found in a park without vital signs. He was taken to hospital and later pronounced dead.
And it may not have stopped there. On Saturday, police confirmed a woman was found dead in a stairwell and that she died of drug-related causes, but weren't sure if the fentanyl-laced heroin is to blame.
Constable Craig Brister fears the numbers may continue to escalate if the drugs aren't taken off the streets.
" A total including the numbers we had on the original release we've had 3 people that have died and 17 overdoses in about the
last 36 to 37 hours.
Brister is appealing to the public and even drug users to be extremely careful handling the tainted drugs. " A lot of it comes down to
we need imput from the public. We can't do this alone, there's somebody out there that knows who's doing this. There's somebody
out there who knows who has these drugs, we need them to contact police. "
Anyone who has any information about the tainted drugs is asked to call Toronto Police or Crime Stoppers.
