Our media partner CTV News Toronto has confirmed that 13 healthcare workers - including doctors, nurses and long-term care workers - have tested positive for COVID-19.
While specific details of where each healthcare worker is employed has not yet been released, CTV News Toronto has learned that they work in various settings such as a hospital, community healthcare and long-term care facility.
As the rapidly-changing events surrounding COVID-19 continue to evolve, it's expected that this number will continue to change daily.
The Toronto Star reporting earlier today that Toronto Public Health is focusing its testing efforts on people who work in healthcare settings, homeless shelters or other places where the nature of their job puts them in contact with large groups of people.
Precautions to help curb the spread of the virus are being implemented, including sanitizing workplaces and self-isolation of those infected.
