Incumbent mayor John Tory is about to get some competition in the fall municipal election.
NEWSTALK 1010 has learned that local businessman Blayne Lastman will file his paperwork Thursday morning to run for mayor of Toronto.
Lastman is the Chairman and CEO of Bad Boy Furniture Warehouse and has frequently appeared in the chain's TV ads.
He's also the son of the founder of the original Bad Boy retail operation, Mel Lastman -- a former longtime Mayor of North York, and Mayor of Toronto from 1998 to 2003.
Lastman is expected to share more details about his campaign after he officially enters the Mayoral race.
So far, about 20 other candidates have declared that they'll challenge Tory for Toronto's top job.
