After several days of frantic searching, a body believed to be that of missing fisherman Kevin Wong has been found.
A woman walking along the shoreline of Lake Ontario at Petticoat Creek Conservation Area in Pickering Tuesday morning came across a man's body and called police.
Durham Regional Police const. George Tudos says that while tests and a post-mortem examination still need to be done, investigators believe the body is Wong's. Police have also reached out to the family of the 31-year-old.
Wong's fishing boat was discovered empty, motor running off Rotary Park in Ajax last Thursday afternoon. Another boater told police he'd been on the water with Wong earlier that day recording a fishing challenge video for YouTube.
Friends who banded together to help search for Wong over the weekend say he was passionate about fishing and experienced on the water. Wong chronicled his adventures on a YouTube channel and on Instagram.
While nothing points to foul play, Tudos could not say how Wong ended up in the water. Police will be looking at Wong's cameras and cellphone for any potential clues.
