A triple shooting last week on the northbound Highway 410 ramp near Derry Road, that left one man dead and two others critically injured, marked the fourth shooting on that highway in less than a year.
With the increasing level of targetted gang activity on Peel Region highways, Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown is pushing to have closed circuit cameras installed on the 410, as well as Highway 403, as a way to try and curb gang violence in the area.

On Friday, at the Peel Police Services Board meeting, Brown introduced a motion asking the provincial government for approval and funding to install cameras along the highways that run through Brampton.
His council unanimously voted on the motion for CCTV cameras, but now, they just need the thumbs up from the province.
Brown spoke to our media partner CP24.
"Some of these shootings we've seen, targetted shootings, on the 410 and the 403 - we've seen it happen because it's so easy to get away and there's no cameras. You don't see these shootings on the 407. Our police believe this would be an advantage."
He says the cameras would help in deterring gang activity and also, if it happens, being able to hold the suspects accountable.
Brown says CCTV cameras in some high-risk areas in Toronto have proven effective.
"Unfortunately, right now, with the 410 and the 403, it is easy to escape the scene and I want to make sure it's no longer a convenient place for shootings. My goal is to make it as difficult as possible for gang activity in Peel Region."
