Toronto's budget chief is asking council to move forward with a three-part plan that could help the city save money over time.
A budget wrap-up meeting takes place Tuesday, ahead of a final council vote in February.
Budget chief Gary Crawford and his team are proposing ways to save dollars in the future.
He wants to reduce government management by 10 per cent within three years, and look for ways to increase the use of technology to improve efficiencies.
His team also wants to double the auditor general's budget over three years, including a $1-million increase this year so she can audit all city departments in time for the 2018 budget.
Councillor Gord Perks, though, says the plan does nothing to address immediate needs in housing, child care and transit.
