A warrant has been issued for a Burlington, wanted in connection with alleged fraud related to the city's municipal election.
Ontario Provincial Police say they began investigating possible expense violations under the Municipal Elections Act in December of last year, at the request of regional police.
They say the alleged improprieties were related to the mayoral race earlier that year.
Police say they uncovered evidence that allegedly tied the accused to several offences.
OPP say they are seeking Sean Baird, 47, of Burlington on charges of uttering a forged document, fraud over $5,000 and four counts of corrupt practice.
They say he is not affiliated in any way with the mayor's office.
"It was determined that Baird broke third party finance rules when he supported a campaign against the Burlington mayor." says OPP Staff Sgt Carolle Dionne.
Dionne says the investigation was started in December 2018, and took nearly a year to complete.
