A cab driver who was charged after a road rage incident involving a bike courier will be pleading not guilty, according to his lawyer.
A video shows part of the altercation between the driver and cyclist on Bay St in August. The courier bangs on the cab, which then swerves towards the cyclist.
The courier, 31-year-old Baldeep Cheema, was charged with assault with police alleging he reached in to the cab and assaulted the driver.
The driver, 57-year-old Ali Farkhondehfall, was charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle and assault with a weapon.
Farkhondehfall made his first court appearance Tuesday.
His lawyer Howard Morton asked for the matter to be moved to bail court, so that he can ask for some of his client's bail conditions to be changed.
Morton would not tell reporters what kind of alterations he will ask for. One of the conditions against his client is that he can't drive a cab.
"He's traumatized," Morton says. "In addition to that, he has financial concerns about supporting his family because he's a cab driver and that's what he does for a living."
He told reporters that his client will plead not guilty.
The courier has yet to appear in court.
