As of January 1, 2017 food service providers, such as restaurants, coffee shops, conveinces and grocery stores and movie theatres with 20 or more locations in Ontario are required by law to include the number of calories for each food and beverage item on their menus, labels or tags.
The idea is to inform diners so they can make better choices.
Ontario is the first province to require calorie disclosure.
