Some good news to begin the work week for parents:
CTV News reports that the federal Liberals are about to announce a plan to increase the Canada child benefit.
The announcement is expected Monday morning and the changes would take effect July 20th.
It's expected that parents will receive an increase between 12 and 30 dollars per month.
Payments vary based on income and number of children, but the maximum per year for a child under six will increase to $6,639. For children aged six to 17, the maximum will be $5,602.
It's a move that will cost the government more than $24 billion dollars. They say it was was accounted for in the 2018 budget.
