Canada Post is issuing an apology after one of its drivers has been spotted repeatedly parking in an accessible parking spot.
A contractor snapped pics of the delivery truck parked where it shouldn't have been.
John says he has seen the mail carrier park in the same spot four times over the past few weeks. "The mailbox that he goes to that he distributes or gets his mail is right next to the street and there's plenty of parking on the street right in front of it so there's no reason why he can't park there."
The accessible parking spot is in the back of a Toronto Community Housing building near Black Creek Drive and Weston Road.
"It really irritates me to see people parking in handicap spots when they don't have a sticker or shouldn't be parking there. He clearly has no care for anybody in need of it. I have seen vehicles parked there that require it," John vents.
Canada Post has issued the following statement:
Thanks for bringing this to our attention. This is obviously unacceptable. We apologize to anyone who is offended by this or was unable to access the parking spot at that time. There is no time when it is acceptable to park in locations clearly marked for people with special needs.
Our expectation is that employees right across the country serve customers while following the traffic laws, which includes respecting no-parking zones.
With the information you provided we were able to identify the route. We will investigate and address the matter internally.
We also ask customers to contact our customer service to report and record any incidents by calling 1-800-267-1177. This immediately initiates a customer service ticket number that is sent to their local Canada Post depot to address the incident, and provides us with tracking information to follow-up.
