A Canadian Army soldier has died of their injuries, following an incident during a training exercise at Canadian Forces Base Wainwright in Alberta.
In a news release, the Department of National Defence says the deceased soldier's family has been notified: "We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of our fallen soldier. The Canadian Armed Forces will be there to support the family during this difficult time."
The victim's identity has not yet been released.
The soldier was reportedly participating in a live fire training exercise when the incident happened in a training area at CFB Wainwright, around 10 p.m. Friday night.
The soldier was evacuated to a nearby hospital, but was pronounced dead this morning.
Live fire training at the base has been suspended, as the investigation continues.
