Canadians who have had the cloud of a pot possesion conviction hanging over them, can now have that wiped from their criminal record.
With the introduction of Bill C93, Canadians can go online to start the process of obtaining a pardon.
But instead of the old system, when it comes to convictions of simple possession of marijuana, the process will be free and without wait.
The old process would have cost $631 dollars and applicants would have waited for, sometimes months to obtain that pardon.
The process is now free and applicants will receive their pardon automatically.
The Bill was introduced shortly after the legalization of recreational marijuana at the end of 2018.
Federal Justice Minister David Lametti says he believes there are as many as a quarter of a million Canadians who have some form of marijuana possession conviction.
