Flooding and high water levels in Lake Ontario will keep the Toronto Islands closed to the public over the long weekend and well into spring as the city deals with cleaning up the mess and making the family-friendly destination safe.
This means that if you were planning to take your family to Centreville anytime soon -- you won't have a chance before June 30. The city has even canceled all permits for Toronto Island Park up to that date as well.
Ferry access to Centre Island and Hanlan’s Point has been suspended. Ward’s Island ferry is currently operating, however it remains restricted to residents and city staff until further notice. As seen in the video above, the three main beaches on the island (Hanlan’s Point, Gibraltar Point and Centre Island beach) are reportedly under water and will be closed until further notice.
