Tempers between a driver and several pedestrians flared up in the city's downtown core on Sunday.
Toronto Police confirm it was 6:00pm that a close call happened in the intersection of Bay and Harbour St.'s.
Police spokesperson Gary Long says a woman behind the wheel of a car then got into a shouting match with 2 men, who were upset that she didn't stop for them.
The allegation according to police is that the confrontation escalated to the point where the men, joined by several other people, swarmed the driver's car.
That's when the 2 allegedly men started trying to break the windows of her vehicle, and one even started jumping on the hood.
Long says the windshield was damaged in the melee.
Authorities claim the driver hit the gas and drove 'about 20 metres away.'
The driver and one of the 2 men phoned police, and when officers arrived they determined that the scuffle wasn't a hit-and-run, as had initially been reported.
The men were sent to the hospital as a precaution but were also charged with mischief under $5,000.
