Charges of attempted murder have been laid in connection with a sudden daytime attack inside the Eaton Centre.
It was just before 3 p.m. Tuesday a man was stabbed several times near the ground floor water fountain. A mall employee was also injured.
Toronto Police constable Victor Kwong tells NEWSTALK 1010 they got help from members of the public in making a quick arrest.
"They were the ones who called it into us saying they were following (someone) who they believed was the suspect," Kwong said.
36-year-old Shane MacLean faces a list of charges: attempted murder, two counts of assault with a weapon, two counts of assault, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a weapon and three counts of failing to comply with probation.
Police are still after a second suspect.
He is described as a black man in his mid-late 20s standing 6'1, wearing a black T-shirt, black pants and a colourful necklace.
Kwong says investigators will be rolling through security footage from the cameras that blanket the Eaton Centre. If they are not able to identify the second suspect "soon", a surveillance image could be released if there is a clear one to be found.
