Toronto City Councillor, Josh Matlow has announced that he's in self-isolation at his home in midtown Toronto.
The reason being, Matlow came into contact with a person who has since tested positive for the virus, after returning from a conference in Washington DC.
According to Matlow, the contact would have been a short conversation.
He tells NEWSTALK 1010, that he's not showing any signs or symptoms of the virus but he's following the advice of public health officials.
"No one who I've been around has any reason to be concerned, given that I'm showing no symptoms and I'm well." says Matlow.
But it does mean that he'll have to stay in his own basement, without contact with his family or anyone else, until March 20th.
That will also mean cancelling all his public events until he's out of the woods.
He is able to to continue working, over the phone.
"I'm physically well, so I feel up to doing the work that I would normally doing. I'll be active, just within a confined space."
He'll be checking in with public health officials and monitoring his conditions, along with his temperature while in self-isolation.
