The City of Mississauga wants to build its own "Central Park," and it plans to buy about 50 homes in order to do it.
Councillors have voted in favour of beginning negotiations with homeowners in Cooksville.
The park would be about 40 acres along Cooksville Creek, near Hurontario Street between Dundas Street and the QEW.
The city is putting a cap of $2 million each on the purchase price of the homes.
