Toronto's Medical Officer of Health, along with the Mayor have announced that the social distancing measures, will be extended for another 12 weeks.
The city is also now ordering those who have COVID-19 or are at high risk to stay home for 14 days.
Dr Eileen de Villa says she's using the "strongest terms possible", which means she's no longer asking, but ordering people to remain in their homes as much as they can.
However, she says you can still go for a walk, pick up groceries once a week, or walk your dog while maintaining physical distancing of at least two metres.
de Villa says the number of cases in Toronto has jumped by 500% in the last two weeks.
Here is what the city is saying today:
To arrest COVID-19 more quickly, and to save lives, protect the healthcare system and ensure the economy and society can rebound more quickly, the following measures will take effect immediately for up to 12 weeks:
The City, under the guidance of the Medical Officer of Health, will monitor cases and community transmission of COVID-19, adjusting the timing and measures as appropriate. If we do not take these actions today, the city will see substantially increased loss of life, and may not begin to recover, economically and as a society, until the end of 2020.
