Three days later, hydro crews and city staff are still recovering from Friday's brief but strong wind storm.
"We haven't seen damage like this since the 2013 ice storm," says Christina Basil with Toronto Hydro.
At the peak, there were 68,000 customers without power. By Monday afternoon, that number dropped to below 1,000.
Toronto mayor John Tory says 311 received 1,400 calls for downed trees and branches. Crews were only able to resolve about a third of those incidents over the weekend.
There were also traffic lights damaged across the city.
Staff say they received just over 300 complaints about traffic heads missing, traffic arms not facing the right direction, flashing lights, and intersections with no power.
By Monday afternoon, there were still more than 90 intersections requiring repairs.
Staff add that they do not yet have an estimate for the cost of the cleanup.
