A guilty plea for a 25-year police veteran, for misconduct, after being accused of drinking the booze of a man who had passed away.
Constable Junior McLaughlin was in charge of guarding the body.
It played out in January, starting at the apartment on Albion Road near Islington.
The agreed statement of facts, has that the officer drove himself back to 23 division, after consuming alcohol.
And upon his return, consumed more while in the parking lot.
It's also agreed that he made contact with the dispatcher, but was slurring his speech and unable to finish his radio call.
A fellow officer found him in the parking lot of 23 division, near his scout car.
McLaughlin pleaded guilty to misconduct, and faces 12 days of work with no pay.
When this story was first reported, the media was told that an officer was taken to hospital to be treated for influenza, and denied that any alcohol had been consumed.
Union President Mike McCormack says the officer in question has an expemplary record, and has never been in trouble before.
However, he suggested there was never an investigation of the alleged drunk driving, because it was his belief that the officer got a ride back to the station.
