Construction on a new St. Lawrence Market development has not even begun but we are learning the cost has climbed by another $14 million.
The new building, across the street from St. Lawrence Market, was first approved by council back in 2002.
It's supposed to include parking, a farmers market, provincial court offices and retail.
A new report from the city says the building could be finished by 2022 if council approves a $14 million budget increase, bringing the total cost to over $116 million.
The increase is blamed on a delay because the company hired to do the work couldn't meet the contract requirements. Now construction costs have gone up.
The original budget for this project was $75 million set in 2008. It's been climbing ever since.
