If you drive downtown, you probably know the rule.
Don't drive past the open streetcar doors.
Now, there's a push to use cameras to catch drivers who ignore the rule.
Streetcars already have outside facing cameras but they are only used when there's a crash involving a TTC vehicle.
There's a motion by Councillor Jaye Robinson calling on the TTC to ask the provincial government to allow them to use the cameras to enforce traffic violations.
The motion says that from 2014 to 2016, 26 people were hit by a car or bicycle while getting on or off the streetcar.
The NDP transportation critic, Jessica Bell, is holding a press conference today calling on the province to improve safety for riders.
