Toronto Fire crews needed help from neighbouring communities to help fight a stubborn fire at a wrecking yard in Toronto's east end.
The fire broke out at Standard Auto Wreckers, near Steeles and Sewell's Rd, just after 11 o'clock on Thursday morning.
There were no injuries, but the flames soon spread to a nearby building on the same property.
Because there is no municipal water near that location, fire officials say they had to truck the water up in fire tankers from the closest hydrants down the road. That was the reason for calling in backup.
Crews from Pickering, Markham and Richmond Hill all answered the call.
At one point, CN Rail suspended service, but they resumed hours later.
Nothing yet on a cause or a damage estimate.
