The death toll in today's van attack in North York has risen.
Toronto Police Chief Mark Saunders says 10 people are now confirmed dead and 15 others injured.
He confirms the man arrested about 2 kms from where the carnage began on Yonge near Sheppard is Alek Minassian. "We need to identify whether there are more people, if he's working in concert with anyone or if this is just a lone act on his doing."
The motive for the rampage is unclear although Saunders says the path of the van appears to be deliberate. "There is nothing on our files, we've looked right across, there is nothing that we have on him right now."
Police are looking for witnesses and are urging anyone with information to call 416-808-8750.
Federal Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Ralph Goodale says there appears to be no national security connection to incident.
