The defence lawyer for a Toronto police officer accused of sexually assaulting a woman 10 years ago is calling the complainant's memory into question.
The woman, who cannot be identified, has told court that Const. Vincenzo Bonazza ``raped'' her in her apartment.
Bonazza has pleaded not guilty to sexual assault.
His lawyer, Gary Clewley, repeatedly asked the complainant today about the finer details of what occurred on the night of the alleged sexual assault, suggesting there were weaknesses in her recollection of events.
The woman, who needed a break from testifying this morning after becoming emotional, says her story comes out in different ways because ``that's real life.''
She has told court she was afraid Bonazza was going to hurt her if she didn't have sex with him, and she only decided to come forward with the allegations after becoming a police officer herself.
