The newest ex-Toronto Raptor has taken to Instagram to thank his Torontonian and Canadian fans for their support over the past nine years.
Demar DeRozan broke the silence on the three-day old trade that sent him to San Antonio in exchange for superstar Kawhi Leonard and forward Danny Green.

In the post, he says "Words could never express what you’ve meant to me. I was just a 19 year old kid from Compton when we first met, but you took me in and embraced me as one of your own.
"I am so grateful for the Love and Passion that you’ve given me over the past 9 years."
In the past, DeRozan had indicated he wanted to finish his career with the Raptors. He had also been forthcoming with Toronto fans and the media about his battle with depression.
On Friday, Raptors president Masai Ujiri spoke with the media, using the opportunity to address DeRozan directly and apologize for what he called a ``gap in communication.''
DeRozan responded to his words by posting a facepalming emoji on his social media feed.
