The Ford government promised new teachers would have to pass a math test to get their teaching licence. Now, we are learning some of the details.
The Globe and Mail reports that most of the test, 70 percent, will focus on actual math skills like fractions and percentages.
The rest will test their ability to teach math.
The Education Quality and Accountability Office will be in charge of the test. It's the same agency that deals with standardized tests for students.
Current teachers won't have to take the test. It only applies to new teachers. They'll need a mark of at least 70 percent in each of the two sections in order to pass.
