Toronto Public Health is now warning more than 2 dozen people about possible exposures to the viruses that cause HIV and Hepatitis.
Public health has determined that dirty needles were used at a health fair in the city March 25th.
About 30 people who had their finger pricked by a needled as part of blood sugar tests as part of diabetes screening are being told to see a doctor over infection concerns.
The volunteer administering the finger prick test did not always use a clean needle during the tests. Most devices made for the tests have needles that are supposed to be swapped out for each new person.
The tests were done as part of the Vision Infinite Foundation's Annual Health Fair at the Scarborough Village Rec Centre at Kingston and Markham Road
Public health says although there is a risk to those receiving the tests, the risk of possible infection is low.
