As Peel Police investigate allegations of abuse and neglect at a long-term care home in Mississauga, a new report paints a disturbing picture of life inside Camilla Care Community.
68 residents at the facility have died of COVID-19. 186 residents and 60 staff tested positive for the virus.
Trillium Health Partners, the organization ordered to take over Camilla Care, found staff wearing garbage bags in place of protective equipment, cockroaches, and some in palliative care who were not getting enough oxygen because there was an oxygen tank shortage.
The Globe and Mail reports, this report backs up similar claims made by a whistleblower which prompted the police investigation.
The company that owns the home, Sienna Senior Living Inc., says it's deeply disappointed by the findings and is committed to making changes.
The report says the outbreak was declared over on June 7th.
