Toronto City Councillor Giorgio Mammoliti sent out a photo last night of him giving the double-finger salute in response to a "Roof Tax" being proposed at City Hall.
He says homeowners would be forced to pay a tax on their roof, driveway, and/or patio which would then go towards the city's Stormwater Management Capital Program.
Speaking on The Rush with Ryan Doyle & Jay Michaels, Mammoliti said of his behaviour that constituents "love it."
"Are you kidding me? They love the fact that somebody is fighting to keep taxes low and to not tax, at all. That's my job. That's why I get elected," Mammoliti went on to say.
He describes the photo as a way of showing his frustration.
NEWSTALK 1010 went to his Ward 7 York West riding asking people if they, in fact, love it.
"Is he crazy? Or really obnoxious?" questioned one man.
One woman cringed instantly when shown the photo of him flipping the double bird. "I don't like him. He's a hood. That's what I think. I don't like him one bit."
Another woman wondered what kind of message he is sending to youth. "Coming from a leader who should be showing an example to others, I don't think this is the way to go. I get that he's pissed off or whatever but there's a better way to do it than doing that."
